How to summon Gremory

Who is Gremory?

Gremory (also spelled Gamori or Gemory) is the 56th spirit described in the Ars Goetia, the first section of the 17th-century grimoire The Lesser Key of Solomon. According to this text, Gremory appears as a beautiful woman riding a large camel, with the head of a duchess. She is associated with fire (one of the 26 legions of infernal spirits under her command), and her powers include revealing hidden treasures, procuring the love of women (particularly for men), providing knowledge of past, present, and future events, and granting the location of lost items. She speaks with a “hoarse voice” and is considered a powerful Marquis in the infernal hierarchy. These descriptions stem from medieval and Renaissance demonological traditions, blending Judeo-Christian occultism with earlier pagan influences.

Important Disclaimer

Summoning rituals from grimoires like the Ars Goetia are historical and symbolic practices rooted in Western esotericism, not verifiable supernatural methods. Attempting them can be psychologically intense or dangerous if approached without proper mental preparation, and they should be treated as meditative or theatrical exercises rather than literal invocations. There’s no empirical evidence that they “work” in a supernatural sense, and they may lead to self-delusion or harm. Proceed with extreme caution, or better yet, study them academically. Consult modern occult resources or therapists if exploring for personal growth.

Preparation for the Ritual

Based on traditional Goetic evocation methods (as outlined in the Lesser Key of Solomon and elaborated in works like S.L. MacGregor Mathers’ 1904 edition), preparation is crucial to “protect” the summoner. These steps are symbolic and draw from Solomonic magic.

1. Purification and Fasting

Abstain from meat, alcohol, and sexual activity for 3–9 days prior. Bathe ritually in consecrated water (saltwater or herbal infusion) to symbolize cleansing. This is meant to align your energy and focus intent.

2. Sacred Space

Choose a quiet, private room. Draw a protective circle on the floor using chalk, flour, or a cord—typically 9 feet in diameter. Inside, inscribe a triangle of art (an equilateral triangle facing east) where the spirit will appear. Surround the circle with names of God (e.g., Adonai, Elohim, Tetragrammaton) and angelic seals for protection. Burn frankincense or myrrh incense to purify the air.

3. Tools and Attire

  • A black-handled knife or sword (for tracing pentagrams).
  • A wand or staff (often hazel wood).
  • The Seal of Gremory (her sigil—a complex geometric design; search for “Gremory seal” in occult texts to draw it accurately on virgin parchment).
  • Robes: White linen for purity, with a hood.
  • Optional: A scrying tool like a black mirror or crystal for visions.

4. Timing

Perform at night during a waxing moon, ideally on a Tuesday (Mars day, aligning with her fiery nature) or when Venus is strong (for her love associations). Avoid Sundays or holy days.

5. Mental State

Meditate on your intent (e.g., love, knowledge). Ground yourself to avoid fear-induced hallucinations.

The Summoning Ritual

This is a condensed version adapted from the Ars Goetia’s evocation for Gremory. Recite in a firm, commanding voice while facing east. The full grimoire includes Hebrew invocations and prayers—refer to primary sources for authenticity.

1. Enter the Circle

Stand in the center, trace pentagrams in the air with your knife at each quarter (east, south, west, north), invoking archangels (Raphael, Gabriel, Michael, Uriel) for protection.
Say:

“I conjure thee, O Circle of Art, by the power of the Most High, that thou shalt protect me from all harm.”

2. Invocation of the Spirit

Hold Gremory’s seal aloft. Recite the conjuration three times, increasing intensity:

“I do invocate and conjure thee, O Spirit Gremory; and being with power armed from the Supreme Majesty, I do strongly command thee, by Beralanensis, Baldachiensis, Paumachia, and Apologiae Sedes; by the most Powerful Princes, Genii, Liachidae, and Ministers of the Tartarean Abode; and by the Chief Prince of the Seat of Apologia in the Ninth Legion, I do invoke thee, and by invocating conjure thee. And being armed with power from the Supreme Majesty, I do strongly command thee, by Him Who spake and it was done, and unto whom all creatures be obedient… Appear thou visibly before this circle in a fair and comely shape, without deformity or horror. Come thou peaceably, visibly, and affably, now and without delay, manifesting that which I shall desire. For thou art conjured by the Name of the Living and True God, Helioren, wherefore fulfil thou my commands, and persist thou therein unto the end.”

(Adapt the desire: e.g., “Manifest the love of [name]” or “Reveal hidden knowledge.”)

3. Appearance and Communion

Gremory may “appear” via visualization, trance, or synchronicity (e.g., dreams, signs). If she manifests symbolically (as a woman on a camel), greet her respectfully:

“I welcome thee, O Gremory, Duchess of the Infernal Realms. By the power vested in me, I bind thee to speak truth and fulfill my will without deceit.”

Ask your questions clearly, one at a time. Offer a verbal “libation” like wine poured outside the circle as payment.

4. Dismissal

When done, thank her:

“I thank thee, O Gremory, for thy presence and obedience. Depart in peace, harming none.”

Trace a banishing pentagram and extinguish incense. Step out only after sensing the space is clear.

Post-Ritual and Risks

Journaling

Record visions or insights immediately.

Banishment

Perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram afterward to clear residual energy.

Potential Issues

Practitioners report psychological effects like anxiety, obsession, or “intrusive thoughts” if protections fail. Historically, some grimoires warn of madness or possession.
