How to summon Haures

Who Is Haures?

Haures (also known as Hauras, Flauros, or Havres) is the 64th spirit described in the Ars Goetia, the first section of the 17th-century grimoire The Lesser Key of Solomon.
He is depicted as a leopard with gryphon wings, transforming into a man with fiery eyes when commanded.

Haures is considered a Duke in infernal hierarchies and is said to command 36 legions of spirits. In the lore, he reveals past, present, and future events, destroys enemies by fire, and provides truthful answers regarding divinity, creation, and the fall of spirits.

Traditional Context

Rituals concerning Haures appear in the Ars Goetia as part of the Solomonic magical tradition.
Such operations were intended to be symbolic demonstrations of spiritual authority and focus rather than literal acts.
Historical sources warn that improper performance was thought to carry danger, reflecting both psychological and moral caution.
These materials are presented here for historical and esoteric scholarship only, not as practical instructions.

Preparation (Historical Overview)

Classical manuals describe an extensive preparatory phase designed to purify and align the practitioner’s intent.

Purification and Fasting

Practitioners were instructed to abstain from meat, sex, and intoxicants for nine days.
A ritual bath in spring water with hyssop on the final day symbolized cleansing.
Confession or self-examination accompanied the process.
The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP) was performed as spiritual protection—its structure involved facing each direction, tracing pentagrams, invoking divine names, and visualizing a protective circle of light.

Tools and Circle

Location:

A secluded indoor or outdoor space at night, traditionally kept free of iron objects, which lore says repel spirits.
Purification and Fasting: Abstain from meat, sex, and intoxicants for 9 days. Bathe ritually in spring water mixed with hyssop on the final day. Confess sins and perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (LBRP) for protection

Face east, draw a pentagram in the air with a ritual dagger or finger while vibrating “YHVH.”
Repeat for south (“Adonai”), west (“Eheieh”), north (“AGLA”).
Invoke archangels: Raphael (east), Michael (south), Gabriel (west), Uriel (north).
Visualize a circle of white light around you.

Tools and Circle:
Magic Circle: Draw a 9-foot diameter circle on the ground using chalk or flour, divided into quadrants with Hebrew names of God (e.g., Ehyeh, Adonai). Enclose a triangle outside the circle for the spirit.
Items Needed: Black-handled knife (athame), virgin parchment with Haures’ sigil (below), incense (frankincense and myrrh), a black mirror or scrying stone, sword for tracing boundaries, and a triangle of art inscribed with “Primeumaton” and the spirit’s name.
Timing: Wednesday during the hour of Mercury (calculate via planetary hours app or table; e.g., sunrise to sunset divided into 12 unequal hours). Lunar phase: waxing moon preferred.

The Summoning

Conjuration: Enter the circle naked or in white linen. Light two candles at the east/west points. Burn incense. Hold the sigil and recite the First Conjuration (adapted from Goetia):

“I do invocate and conjure thee, O Spirit Haures; and being with power armed from the Supreme Majesty, I do strongly command thee, by Beralanensis, Baldachiensis, Paumachia, and Apologiae Sedes; by the most Powerful Princes, Genii, Liachidae, and Ministers of the Tartarean Abode; and by the Chief Prince of the Seat of Apologia in the Ninth Legion, I do invoke thee, and by invocating conjure thee. And being armed with power from the Supreme Majesty, I do strongly command thee, by Him Who spake and it was done, and unto whom all creatures be obedient. Also I, being made after the image of God, endued with power from God and created according unto His will, do exorcise thee by that most mighty and powerful name of God, El, strong and wonderful; O thou Spirit Haures. And I command thee and Him who spake the Word and His Fiat was accomplished, and by all the names of God. Also by the names Adonai, El, Elohim, Elohi, Ehyeh, Asher Ehyeh, Zabaoth, Elion, Iah, Tetragrammaton, Shaddai, Lord God Most High, I do exorcise thee and do powerfully command thee, O thou Spirit Haures, that thou dost forthwith appear unto me here before this Circle in a fair human shape, without any deformity or tortuosity. And by this ineffable name, Tetragrammaton Iehovah, do I command thee, at the which being heard the elements are overthrown, the air is shaken, the sea runneth back, the fire is quenched, the earth trembleth, and all the hosts of the celestials, terrestrials, and infernals do tremble together, and are troubled and confounded. Wherefore come thou, O Spirit Haures, forthwith, and without delay, from any or all parts of the world wherever thou mayest be, and make rational answers unto all things that I shall demand of thee. Come thou peaceably, visibly, and affably, now, and without delay, manifesting that which I shall desire. For thou art conjured by the name of the Living and True God, Helioren, wherefore fulfil thou my commands, and persist thou therein unto the end, and according to mine interest, visibly and affably speaking unto me with a voice clear and intelligible without any ambiguity.”

Appearance and Binding: If no response, repeat with increasing intensity (up to three times). Use the wand to trace the spirit’s name in the air. Upon manifestation (visualized or sensed), bind with the Chain of Honorius: Recite commands to enter the triangle and swear obedience on the Black Book.

Communication: Ask questions directly (e.g., “Haures, reveal the truth of [topic]”). Use scrying tool for visions. Offer no sacrifices—offerings are symbolic (e.g., wine poured outside circle).

Dismissal

Thank the spirit: “I thank thee, Haures, for thy obedience. Depart in peace.”
Recite the License to Depart:

“O thou Spirit Haures, because thou hast diligently answered unto my demands, and hast been very ready and willing to come at my call, I do here license thee to depart unto thy proper place; without causing harm or danger unto man or beast. Depart, then, I say, and be thou very ready to come at my call, being conjured by the name of the Lord God, the which is blessed forever. Amen.”

Extinguish candles counterclockwise. Erase circle. Perform LBRP again.

Warnings from the Tradition

Risks:

Grimoires emphasize protection; failure can lead to obsession, illness, or “possession” (psychological distress). Modern occultists (e.g., Aleister Crowley in The Goetia) advise psychological preparation and viewing as archetypes.
Ethics: Intent matters—use for knowledge, not harm. Haures burns liars and enemies, so truthfulness is key.

A 9-foot-diameter magic circle inscribed with divine names such as Ehyeh and Adonai.

A triangle outside the circle representing the space of communication.

Implements such as a black-handled knife (athame), virgin parchment bearing Haures’s sigil, incense (frankincense and myrrh), a black mirror or scrying stone, and a sword or wand for tracing boundaries.

Timing: Wednesday during the hour of Mercury, under a waxing moon.
